Ayurveda originated in the Vedic civilization of ancient India and is officially recognized by the World Health Organization. Maharishi Ayurveda and Maharishi Vedic Medicine represent the modern restoration of the complete and authentic practice of Ayurveda as recorded in the Vedic texts.

Ayurveda helps you determine and reverse the root imbalances that are the real cause of your symptoms. By teaching you how to live day-to-day life in a way that balances rather than harms your body, Maharishi Ayurveda empowers you with the ability to begin to overcome even chronic health problems.

The Ayurvedic Approach: Strengthening the Healing Response
Ayurveda is effective because Ayurvedic herbs, diets and cleansing programs strengthen the body's tremendous innate capacity for healing, balancing and self-repair.

Ayurveda enlivens the inner intelligence of the body that is constantly creating, monitoring and adjusting billions of cells performing innumerable physiological processes in a way no drug or medical intervention could ever replicate. Ayurvedic health approaches help you to harness and enliven this inner intelligence of your body and thereby remove the root imbalances at the basis of disease.

Ayurveda and the Three Steps to Health

Ayurveda uses a three-step process to prevent disease and reverse imbalance. This process has been applied successfully to virtually all symptoms from menopause to weight loss, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, digestive problems, anxiety and insomnia, chronic pain and many others.

These three steps are:

1) Live a Healthy Lifestyle

Most imbalance and disease are the result of years lifestyle mistakes. No treatment can be truly effective if the lifestyle mistakes causing the disease are allowed to continue. Ayurveda provides the information you need to know to live life in a way that creates health and not disease. Through special Ayurvedic health assessment techniques Ayurveda is able to match lifestyle recommendations to your personal constitution and state of balance and imbalance.

2) Restoring Balance

Ayurveda does not focus on attacking a specific disease. Ayurveda focuses on creating health. By removing stress from the mind and body and balancing the basic bodily functions (digestion, metabolism, circulation, elimination, tissue development, nervous system) the root imbalances causing disorders are gradually reversed.

3) Rejuvenation and Cleansing

Too many of us experience that daily life slowly drags us into deeper fatigue, stress and imbalance. In addition, the bodily accumulation of toxins, undigested food and metabolic waste causes low energy, accelerated aging and many diseases. Ayurveda provides a crucial element for health through daily and seasonal regimens that cleanse and rebalance the body, restoring its innate healing ability and remove the debilitating effects of stress.
