An Exercise Program That Suits You

Any exercise is better than no exercise, every little helps  - so stay confident!

When starting out exercising it is crucial that you enjoy  what you are doing, so pick an activity that you like -  walking, cycling, or sport for example, to get started, and  worry about what the best exercise is later.

The biggest mistake that most people make when they start an  exercise routine is the choice of  exercise.  Most people  start out excited, and they pick a really hard exercise  routine to start out.  They also tend to pick the type of  exercise that is recommended to them, instead of one that  they enjoy.

This will cause people to get sick of the routine within a  matter of weeks and eventually stop exercising altogether  because they just can't find the energy or motivation to  stick with the overly hard program they chose.  You should avoid taking this path at all costs, the best  exercise to start with is a light exercise you enjoy. Even  if this is only going for a walk then make a habit of having  a walk. Many studies have shown that even people who get an  hour or so of very light exercise each week end up fitter  than those who get no exercise.

Once you get into the swing of your routine you will probably  want to step up its intensity somewhat, but ensure you don't  fall into the old trap of stepping it up too much. Say you  enjoy riding a bike and you cycle a short distance every  second evening, once you become used to this you will find  you are able to cycle further, quicker and for longer. At  that point the best plan is to stretch your routine to  encompass your greater abilities, retaining a challenge when  you go cycling.

If you've already started exercising and you feel like  you're in a pretty good routine, then you should think about  increasing the amount or difficulty of exercise that you're  doing.

For instance, if you're finding the time to go on a  short walk three times a week, then you should think about  increasing that number to four or five times.    You can also change the type of exercise that you're doing  if you're getting used to it.  In fact, this is recommended  if you're starting to get used to whatever exercise you're  doing.  After all, if you get used to it and it becomes  boring, you might not want to continue.

If you're looking for a good type of exercise, you should  look for something that works your entire body.  For this  reason, it might be a good idea to invest in a small  exercise machine, or in a membership to one of your local  gyms.  By exercising all of your body, you'll be able to  increase your muscle tone everywhere - which will generally  make you feel healthier.

Whatever happens, don't get discouraged!  Some days you  might not feel like exercising - that's to be expected.  However, if you do decide to take a day or two off, make  sure you get right back into your routine as soon as  possible.  Missing a few days won't ruin your exercise  schedule, but quitting will.   Even if you end up breaking your routine and stop exercising  altogether there is still hope and potential to get back  into your routine.

Begin to do your exercising again, at  whatever level you're comfortable with; after all any  exercise is good exercise. So if you are setting out  exercising, or just considering a new path or routine, the  best of luck!
